• To register your college’s team for the college league for Michaelmas term, please email and pidge a cheque to OUBbC for 25 GBP.  Please do not pidge cash.  The deadline for registration is Friday of 1st week, 17th October 2008.

Each college must re-register for Hilary Term’s competition by the end of 9th week of Michaelmas.  Alternatively two cheques may be sent at the beginning of this year but must clearly state which term they are for.
Fixtures and league tables will be online at www.oubbc.org/college/fixtures by Sunday 19th October.
The college league will run throughout Michaelmas and Hilary terms.
    Teams may be mixed.

College League players should consult the guidance on health and safety and Risk Assessment available on the documents page.
Shooting fouls will be penalized by awarding 1 free throw worth 2 points if made to the other team.
Following past years of dangerous play and to ensure safe play in this year’s competition, a yellow card and red card system will be used for unsportmanlike fouls.  Please will all members of each team refer to the FIBA Official International Rules of basketball so that everyone is playing the same sport! Referees may give a ‘yellow card’/first warning for the first offence.  If the same player commits another unsportsmanlike foul, they will be sent off the court.

Only current students or staff of Oxford University may play in the tournament.
Players must play for the college of which they are a current member. Associate membership is not sufficient.
A maximum of two colleges may combine to form a team. Colleges are strongly discouraged to field combined teams.

All players must bring their BOD cards to each game in order to play.
A maximum of two Twos or Blues players can be on the court for the same team at the same time.
A minimum of four players is needed to compete in a given game and if a team fails to produce four players, then they automatically forfeit the match.
A team is awarded 3 points for a win; 0 points for a loss; and a 2 point penalty if a team fails to show up for a match.
It is the responsibility of every team to provide a referee who has consulted the FIBA Official Rules for 2008. Failure to provide a referee will also incur a 2 point penalty. This applies only if both teams show up. On the fixtures, it is indicated which college needs to provide a referee for each game. Referees decisions are final and are to be respected.

If a referee fails to show up, and both teams agree to go ahead with the game, it will be played according to the traditional honour system of 'offense calls the fouls'. The winning captain should inform the webmaster, Mike Bell, at results@oubbc.org about which college failed to provide a referee.
There are one hour slots for the games, so there should be a 10 minute warm-up followed by two twenty minute halves (running time), and a 5 minute half-time in between.
The fixtures are set and are non-negotiable for rescheduling.
Michaelmas term will consist purely of group games with no playoffs.

Following Michaelmas term's games the divisions will be split as follows for Hilary term:
The top 4 teams from each division will be placed in Division A for the remaining games.
The remaining teams will be placed into Division B for the remaining games.
In the event of point ties in the standings, the results between the two teams in question will be considered first. If the tie is between more than two teams, it will go on points difference.
For the final playoffs at the end of Hilary, the clock will stop during the last 2 minutes. OUBbC will provide referees.

Please ensure that the winning college captain e-mails the result to results@oubbc.org the same day as the game is played on so that the website can be updated promptly!!!
